Let’s Smell the Roses

Do you ever have to sit and wait for someone and look around the waiting and wonder why everyone is there? I am sitting in a waiting room on the Neuro floor for children. Being a mother of a special needs child, I always look at children in the waiting rooms and wonder what their condition is. Some parents probably think I am strange because I look. I look because I am curious as to what God has blessed each family with.

Our family has been blessed Muscular Dystrophy. I don’t mean that in a negative way. I do mean it lovingly. We found out that Wesley had Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 6 ½. It was a hard blow at the time and we wondered why. We have since realized that God gave us a gift and trusted us to take care of him.

My family was introduced to DoTerra Essential Oils after we found out about Wesley. We have used many oils to help Wesley with Muscular Dystrophy. We have our daily oils that we take, OnGuard, DDR Prime, and Bone Essentials. With Wesley being a 12-year-old young man we are dealing with a lot of emotions at this time in life. The oil that never fails is Rose.

Rose is the Queen of Oils. It can be used for many different things, but my family uses it mostly for the emotional support that it gives. Wesley has a tendency to “freak out” sometimes and Rose will calm him with in seconds. He says it smells good too. It does smell like you have sniffed a beautiful bouquet of roses. It is made from Rosa damascena, more commonly know as the Damask rose.

Rose has helped Wesley, myself and my family more than once. We apply Rose before doctors appointments, test day at school or just a rough day. My favorite story to tell about it is when Wesley was headed out to go buck hunting. He gets a little nervous when hunting so I rolled on Rose just as he left the house. It was only about 45 minutes later that I got the call that the deer was down. Wesley was calm and collected and it was one shot.
