One thing I enjoy is recipes from family and friends. They are great because I always feel like that person is near even though they are far away or maybe they are up in heaven watching me cook. I also enjoy having kitchen tools that belong to the ones who have passed. I always use it for the same thing they did. I have Tupperware for macaroni salad (recipe in my recipe section) that I use from my late Grandma Hamm’s. I also have bowls that were my Grandmas. I feel like when I cook with them, somehow it will turn out like grandmas and I can make the same memories for those I cook for. Yes, you can laugh at me, but it does give me comfort and a remembrance of my Grandma.
This recipe is a different grandma and she is still with us so I don’t use any of her bowls but I do love some of her recipes. I made her Pretzel Jell-O Salad the other day. I have the recipe on a piece of scratch paper from 2009. I remember calling Grandma Joan while I was at work to get the recipe. So, it is not written out correctly. It has the measurements of each layer in the salad.
Something I did a little different this time was adding DoTerra Tangerine Oil to my cream cheese, cool whip layer. I know I shouldn’t change the recipes but I just love using my oils in my food so I add them anywhere I can.
Do you have family recipes that you enjoy making? Have you used DoTerra Essential Oils in anything you have made? Remember if the bottle has nutrition facts on the bottle you can take them internally. So, putting them in your recipes is an added bonus. I use them to enhance flavor or use them when I don’t have the spice, citrus or herb that I need.
